HOW IT ALL BEGAN...

June 30, 2008 designates the completion of the first year of the Rancho Murieta Rotary Club.
The significance of this first year lies not only on the mere fact that the Rotary club successfully completed one year, but also because of all the obstacles that the Rotary club was faced with this year. With a failing economy, little fundraising experience, few members and prior work and family obligations, it seemed like all the odds were against them. However, strong leadership, team work and VISION this year finished with success.

The VISION for the club was built with help form the district leaders. The club set a start date of October 2008 with more than just a vision, but with high hopes, pride, drive and optimism.

It all started with an "Annual Plan" which established the clubs' goals, visions and musings. To achieve success, the starting 20 members made the following goals:
Strong commitment to Rotary Foundation
Funds for Mexico and Peru
Funds for youth program and vocational development
Community giving

Starting with merely $29.95 in the club account, the club knew that fundraising would be a crucial to the success of the club. To start the season off, the "landloardress" suggested a Luau. Without further ado, the 1st annual Luau fundraiser progressed to reality. In the hottest day of the year, 120 people attended the Luau and ended with smiles and funds to add into the club account.

After many obstacles throughout the year, the Rotary Club of Rancho Murieta completed their first official year. Congratulations to all those who put so much of their precious time and effort and we look forward to more years of helping our local and international community.
